# Job Description **Work Environment** Dusty Environment Diverse Work Locations Willing to Relocate **Responsibilities** Tasks - Plan or modify routes based on changing conditions, using computer equipment, global positioning systems (GPS) or other navigation devices to reduce fuel consumption and carbon emissions - Be part of a team of two truck drivers or a convoy - Drive trucks or articulated units to transport goods or materials - Monitor vehicle condition and perform inspection of tires, lights, brakes, refrigerated storage equipment and other equipment - Perform emergency repairs along the road - Inspect trucks before, during and after travel and monitor all aspects of vehicles - Receive and transmit information to central dispatcher - Record information on cargo, service hours, distances traveled and fuel consumption **Qualifications** Credentials (certificates, licenses, affiliations, courses, etc.) - Class 1/1F/A license (semi-trailers) **Experience and Specialization** Documentary Knowledge - Bill of Lading - Driver's Log Book - Inspection Report (pre-departure, en route and post-travel) - Trip Report Type of Trucking and Equipment - Dry bulk - Refrigerated container Experience with Communication Systems - Use global positioning system (GPS) and other navigation equipment Experience with Transportation/Delivery - Local - Long distance - Provincial/territorial **Additional Information** Safety and Security - Valid passport - Criminal record check - Driving record check Transportation and Travel Information - Valid driver's license Working Conditions and Physical Abilities - Attention to detail - Handle heavy loads - High work volume - Physically demanding - Repetitive tasks - Work in sitting position Weight Handled - Up to 23 kg (50 lbs) Own Tools and Equipment - Protective helmet - Steel-toed shoes or boots - Safety vest Personal Qualities - Effective interpersonal relations - Excellent oral communication - Excellent written communication - Flexibility - Judgment - Organizational skills - Reliable - Team spirit - Diligent - Patient **Benefits** Other Benefits - Parking available
